OUR STORY
Between the Lines is a small family business that was established in 2023 quite by accident, or as we like to say, "It was a God-thing!"

After several tough years filled with difficult diagnoses, major surgeries, and constant medical bills, we were struggling to make ends meet. We cut all unnecessary spending, but at the end of the month, it still wasn't enough. That's when we turned to the grocery receipts... Where was all our grocery money going? As it turns out, soap was gobbling huge portions of our grocery budget. We used to make powdered detergent years ago, but it didn’t have enough cleaning power, so eventually we went back to the store-bought version. We’ll admit to being laundry snobs; we like soft, clean, fresh smelling laundry that is not wrinkled. Plus, several family members reacted to certain kinds of soaps and fabric softeners, so when we discovered that some of the more expensive kinds worked, we stuck to the plan.

However, teens make an awful lot of laundry. These days it seems we are always washing something, and even the extra-large soap containers from the store didn’t last long. So, after spending a lot of time researching, experimenting, and with enough tweaking, we ended up with a simple detergent recipe that we love to use.

I (Sue) am a writer, and when I shared our success with my readers, folks reached out asking where to buy the ingredients. So, after some deliberation, the "kit" idea was born.

We began small... We are self-taught (I'm just a simple homeschooling mama), so we weren't expecting much, but God had other plans. After several years of working in the basement of our home, we have outgrown the space. Today, we are working on remodeling a detached garage into a brand-new soap studio.

As of July 2025, we have three part-time employees, and are mass producing multiple different laundry, cleaning, and personal care products. We send our products all across the United States and Canada, and we appreciate each and every one of you, our customers. May you be blessed.
And so, we have a business, unplanned and all. God is good!
